Last Sunday I had the honor of announcing a great step forward in the vision of Liberty Church… the appointment of Pastors for our Lower Manhattan Community.
Steve & Rhema Trayner have been part of our core team since the very early days, with Rhema becoming our first staff member (job profile- whatever it takes) and Steve overseeing our amazing worship team. What has become clear to the leadership of our church is that the call of God is on the Trayners to lead, to care for people and to build His house.
So this Sunday during our 11am service we will be commissioning them and praying over them for God’s grace and favor as they step up into a new level of leadership and anointing. In many ways it’s a recognition of the phenomenal work they are already doing in Lower Manhattan, but this is a significant step for our future together nonetheless.
It has always been the vision of our church to establish communities across our city and beyond. While Andi & I will continue to give direction, vision and contribute much of the teaching as the Lead Pastors, we can’t pastor everyone ourselves. So the Pastors of each community are responsible for caring for people in that congregation, raising volunteer teams, overseeing and hosting Sunday services, and developing ministries that build lives. It’s time to enlarge our capacity as a church.
Lower Manhattan now has a beautiful venue with room to grow, the strongest team it’s ever had and a string of record-breaking Sundays. I’m confident that with the addition of Steve & Rhema’s pastoral leadership we are entering a wonderful new season for God’s work in our community.
I hope you’ll join us to pray over them,
Paul
