In the afterglow of our first She is Free Conference in April, we are reminded this Mother’s Day of all the women in our church who lead the way toward freedom in their lives.
“A mother of the house is one who comforts, who keeps the house in order, and who is reliable,” says Dee, of our Soho Community. “The ability to take care of people in the church relates to the innate abilities of a natural mother.”
Tanya of our Brooklyn Community agrees: “She is a woman of God who can nurture, discipline, love, gather, and equip all those God has entrusted to our church, to empower them to do what God has called them to do and to release them into the call of God on their life.”
“Every woman in their own right is a mother,” Tanya adds.
Moms create a safe place for both discipline and growth. They make everyone comfortable and they also kick them out of the nest so they can fly. We all have unique relationships with our mothers, but at Liberty, we are immensely blessed to have a supportive group of women who build the church with their strengths and who devotedly care for people in every season of their lives.
We’d love for you to watch this video about Jenny Andrew, a “mom of the house” who used her journey to freedom and the gift of her music to inspire other women at She is Free.
