Our next night of baptisms is coming up on December 12 at the Grace Hotel in Midtown. We’re honored to share the story of Jonathan and his family who were baptized earlier this year.
“My son and I were baptized this summer and Tricia my wife was baptized later. Quite honestly for all of us it was life-changing, life-focusing—devoting ourselves to Christ and the Scripture as we know it today and all that we read and believe. It’s given us all tremendous focus, tremendous discipline, life.
We feel alive.
We’ve only been going to Liberty since Father’s Day. We were introduced to Liberty through my relationship with Theresa—my trainer for the last two years. Seeing her two to three times a week, we did a lot of talking about Christianity, about Liberty. Through that dialogue we became, as a family, very intrigued with the church as we know it today. Since the very first time she invited us to come, we thought about it and thought about it and thought about it. And finally we decided to come.
The community that we have at Liberty is very important. There’s a lot of comraderie…fellowship. I’ve enjoyed just being around Paul and Steve and Rhema. I went to Zimbabwe. I’m having breakfast tomorrow with Steve.
I think the baptism is very important because it goes 360. It completes the circle. You can go to service every week—at Soho, Union Square, Brooklyn, wherever it may be—and that’s wonderful. You can tithe and do all these things. The baptism, for me, hit it home. I felt… Christian. I felt committed. I felt confident and comfortable. That was really the revelation.
The baptism for me was commitment. A real devotional commitment, a public display of my feeling and my belief.”
We are so excited to have baptisms once again at The Grace Hotel. Baptism is an outward sign that commemorates the choice to live for Jesus. It symbolizes the death of the old nature and being raised again as a new creation in Christ. Our entire church family is invited to join us as we hear more stories of transformation and celebrate the new life that is given in Jesus Christ.
